Business Block
I've been brewing a new business adventure and it's been a little frustrating trying to settle on a name. I've had no problems coming up with great names, but it's another story when it comes to acquiring available domain, username, blog name, etc. During this seemingly endless search process, I found PickyDomains:If you need a great, memorable, easy to pronounce domain name that EXACTLY describes what your website is all about - you are in the right place. This is what we do. We find available domain names that are descriptive, concise and are easily remembered. And if we can’t find one, or you don’t like any available domain names we suggest – you don’t pay anything. PickyDomains.Com is completely RISK FREE.
In exchange for a blog post mention, they're offering to work with bloggers for free. . .so here's my post and we'll see what comes of it!

sub-studio :: gift guides by color
Blogger gift guides abound, but one my favorites this year is the collection over at sub-studio, sorted by color and most under $100. Black, white and many more right here.

Monogram Bliss
An AMAZING post on vintage typography over at the design*sponge guest blog today. I just ordered a reprint of How to Design Monograms (by Elizabeth and Curtiss Sprague) and would love to find one of Moderne Monogramme, but how incredible would it be to see one of the originals! {images via d*s}

Party for Pennies
Lucky Joanna {from the lovely a cup of jo and smitten} got to "tag along" with her boyfriend Alex's story for the New York Times on throwing a budget dinner party with David Monn. There's a great slideshow of the process and shindig right here. I loved this quote; great advice, recession or not:
“The thing about the recession is, it takes the pressure off,” said Mr. Monn, 45. “It allows you to strip away all the stuff that’s not important and focus on what is: friends, family, togetherness.”
Just what I needed to get me into the holiday {and budget concious} spirit!p.s. My apologies for my unexpected blogging break. . .a bit of travel, a bit of sickness and a whole lot of work kept me away, but I hope to be back to a more regular posting schedule!
