Reader Recommendations in Richmond, VA?
Looks like I'll be heading to Richmond, Virginia for work in the near future. . .any recommendations on restaurants, shops, and must-see places? I'll probably have a car and plenty of time to explore!

I like Cary Street as it has something other than the usual. Apart from that, Short Pump and Stony Ridge are the two main shopping areas and they have all the usual suspects. As for dining, I like CanCan Brasserie which is on Cary Street too - very good food and atmosphere. There are also some cool places to eat and shop in Shockoe Bottom which is basicallt an extension of Cary Street! Hope this helps
Carytown is a must for gift stores and great boutiques.
There are TONS of good restaurants in Richmond. My favorite's are Edo's Squid (Italian), Sticky Rice (sushi), Kuba Kuba (Cuban), Comfort ("new" southern), and Capital Ale House (if you like beer).
Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom are fun areas to explore, too.
Take a look at the blog, RetroRichmond.com. Pretty cool.
